The reason to buy this is the fan, or rather the absence of one. Most lights at this price cool themselves audibly, which is invisible in a photograph and ruinous in anything with sound. The AH-2 runs silent at full output and holds its colour as it dims, so the light you set up at the start of the day is the light you still have at the end of it. The app is the weak part: it is slow, it drops the connection, and the on-unit controls are better for everything except fine colour work. Buy it for a room where sound is being recorded. If sound is not a concern, a cheaper fixture will do more for the money.

Most rooms creators work in were designed for living rather than recording, and the result is a short slapback that makes everything sound amateur before a word is said. This set covers the first reflection points properly and the difference is immediate on a voice. What it does not do is anything below roughly 200Hz, and the marketing is quieter about that than it should be: if your problem is boom rather than echo, this is not the fix. The adhesive strips are the weakest part and they let go in a warm room. Use the mechanical fixings from the start and it is a genuinely good buy for the money.

A robe is not a glamorous purchase and it is one of the things experienced creators replace first, because the cheap ones are cold, cling badly and look wrong if they end up in shot. This one has enough weight to hang, survives frequent washing, and has pockets that hold a phone rather than gesturing at the idea. The sizing is the real limitation: a single length is generous on most people and short on anyone over about five foot nine, and there is no way to work around that. The tie will fray first and is not sold separately, which is an irritation on something otherwise built to last.

Hygiene is the part of this work where good intentions fail most often, not because people do not care but because a proper routine is tedious and the shortcut is invisible. A fixed-cycle device removes the judgement call, which is the whole value: it either ran or it did not. This one is well made, holds most items without taking them apart, and signals clearly when it has finished. Two warnings. It is not appropriate for every material, and the manufacturer is clearer about that in the manual than on the box, so check what you own first. And it does not replace a cleaning instruction that came with an item. Used alongside those rather than instead of them, it is the most useful thing in this category PALMA has looked at.

The problem this solves is specific: money arriving from several platforms, in several currencies, on no fixed schedule, which is the ordinary situation for a working creator and the thing generic accounting software handles worst. Ledger & Crown does the conversion properly and exports something an accountant can use without a phone call. It is let down by the app, which feels like a port rather than a product, and by support that is fine in February and agonising in January. The pricing is the real complaint: monthly only, and over a year it is the most expensive option in this category by some margin. Worth it if multi-currency is your actual problem. Overkill if it is not.

Best for: A full-time creator with no employer sick pay and nothing behind them if they stop.

Nobody in this industry gets sick pay, and almost nobody has planned for the month where they cannot work. Income protection is the unglamorous answer and the terms vary enormously between providers, so the detail is the whole product. Two things here are better than average: the definition is own-occupation, which is what you want, and mental health is not carved out into worse terms, which it frequently is elsewhere. The deferred period means this covers a serious interruption rather than an ordinary bad run, and the premium structure means it costs more every year you hold it. Read the health questions slowly and answer them exactly. This is not a product PALMA can tell you is right for you, and an independent adviser is worth the fee.
